2022 Ministry Wives Retreat

Ministry Wives - Rooted in Christ

Colossians 2:6-10 TLB

Ministry Wives Retreat

Rev. Janell Robinson

September 16-18, 2022

Saint Francis Retreat Center
703 Main Street
DeWitt, Michigan

The 2022 theme for the 38th Ministry Wives Retreat is “Rooted in Christ” which is taken from Colossians 2:6-10 TLB: “Lord, And now just as you trusted Christ to save you, trust him, too, for each day’s problems; live in vital union with him. Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him. See that you go on growing in the Lord and become strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with joy and thanksgiving for all he has done. Don’t let others spoil your faith and joy with their philosophies, their wrong and shallow answers built on men’s thoughts and ideas, instead of on what Christ has said. For in Christ there is all of God in a human body; so you have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ. He is the highest Ruler, with authority over every other power.”

God’s Word instructs us to be rooted and grounded in Christ so we can grow spiritually. We need nourishment from Christ to fulfill the ministry God has given us to do. Christ is our source: for the Holy Spirit (I Cor. 2:12); for the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-25); for wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption (I Cor. 1:30; Col. 1:9; II Cor. 5:21; Eph. 1:7; 2 Thess. 2:13). Being rooted and grounded in Christ, enables us to abide in Christ, who is the “True Vine.” If we abide in Christ and His words abide in us we can ask what we desire, and it shall be done for us (John 15:1, 7). Without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). Our desire is to glorify the Father by bearing much fruit and being disciples of Christ (Jn. 15:8).

We are complete in Christ – in HIM we have everything we need. We are saved by Grace and by not works. If we are not rooted in Christ, then the alternatives are that we are influenced and/or controlled by men’s thoughts, traditions, philosophies and ideas which can spoil your faith and take away your joy. So be rooted in Christ!

All Pastor’s wives and those who are worships leaders, youth/children workers – ladies involved in their churches’ ministry are invited to attend the 38th MWR. Let’s gather together for fellowship, fun, prayer/healing, teaching and worship so we can be refreshed to serve. I would love to see you there. This year’s retreat is a two day event; the schedule will be in your handouts at the retreat.

Janell Robinson

Rev. Janell Robinson

“And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” Luke 1:45.

Janell Robinson is known for her strong ability to believe every word that the Lord has spoken and she is blessed for it. She stands on God’ promises as she navigates through life’s many surprises with her husband Pastor Leo Robinson Sr. right by her side. Together they have raised a legacy of five God fearing children and due to their faithfulness, have been gifted seven exquisite grandchildren. Pastor Janell often says "my grand babies keep me young." While she is clothed in honors, titles, and degrees she is most proud to be known as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Janell has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, from Anderson University. As an Ordained Minister of the Church of God she serves the Church on local and national levels. Pastor Janell was employed with the State of Michigan for 40 years. She retired from her position of Adult Service supervisor in 2019.

Also in 2019 Janell and her Husband retired from Holbrook Avenue Church of God, where together they served as Co-Pastors. This is where she found herself most busy over the years, serving as leaders there for 32 years. She was a strong voice in the congregation and her gift of encouragement was often used to keep the church moving. Despite her title, she jumped right into ministry and served on any capacity. Humble and most modest, she was a dynamic role model for the members of Holbrook. Her lifestyle matched her sermon and due to her integrity, God has shown great favor on her life and those she led. After retirement, Janell has found herself a part of the leadership team of Good Church, a church plant, led by her son and daughter, Leo II and Miosha Robinson.

Her greatest passion is working in Women's Ministry. Her nonjudgmental and consistent attitude draws broken women to her. In her safety, she teaches them about the King and His love for them. Without focusing on their sin she is often heard reminding the women she serves that "we have to do better." She is convinced that the way to win souls for the Lord is "by love."

Pastor Janell has been called upon to preach, teach, and speak all over this great Nation, however, she would rather be known for her genuine love for the Lord, and her great desire to compel others to love Him as well.

Jakisha Robinson

Jakisha D. Robinson

Jakisha D. Robinson was born into a strong Christian Household. Even though she was raised in the church, it was not until she was 12 years old and was introduced to praise dancing, that she absolutely fell in love with Jesus. Everything she had learned about God came to life when she joined Chosen Dance Ministry. She began dancing when she was 12, leading worship at 16, and teaching children church at 17 and has not stopped yet. She currently serves on the leadership team of Good Church where she uses her gifts and passions to teach other children that Jesus is alive. Jakisha has a passion for children and servers as a junior church teacher as well as a small group facilitator. You can also find her on Sunday morning ushering in the presence of the Lord as a Praise and Worship leader. Jakisha is a graduate of Spring Arbor University with a degree in Family Life Education. She is in the process of opening her own childcare by the name of Kidz World Childcare Center. She is a passionate young woman who wants every young person to know that Jesus is King. When she is not serving the church you can often find her hanging out with her four nieces and three nephews.

Jen Foss

Mrs. Jen Foss

For the past 15 years, Jen Foss, has been leading worship, writing music, growing her family, and serving the local church. She’s been leading worship with Good Church for the past two years, a church that was planted in October of 2019. Whether it's through wilderness experiences, guiding alongside her husband with Project Forty, or developing missional churches with Good Church, she loves to see people come to a fuller understanding of how they can be used by God in the lives of those around them.

Jen has been married to the love of her life, Matt, for 14 years. They live in Flint, Michigan with their three sons, Silas, Isaiah, and Cedar.
